Thiemo Veneman

Dr Thiemo Veneman, MD, PhD, is an internist who specialized in vascular medicine and diabetology in addition to intensive care medicine. He has been taking care of patients with type 1 and 2 diabetes for more than 30 years, in international settings.

After his medical training in Amsterdam he moved to Pittsburgh PA and later to San Diego in California in order to perform clinical research in the field of diabetes within the renowned institute Scripps Clinic. He discovered the mechanisms leading to hypoglycemia unawareness. This research led to the defence of a PhD thesis.

In the years following , Dr Veneman has continued to produce an extensive number of scientific publications, including chapters in textbooks and textbooks in the field of vascular medicine and diabetes, as well as in the field of intensive care medicine.

Dr Veneman has been serving on editorial boards of 3 different scientific journals in the field of diabetes and vascular medicine.



In addition to his clinical and scientific activities Dr Veneman serves as an member of the scientific board of “het Geneesmiddelenbulletin” and as an expert member of the Medical Disciplinary Board.
